This is a guided loop Biketour from Winterhude to Niendorfer Gehege, Altona – Volkspark, through parks in Flottbek, down to Elbe River at Teufelsbrück pier.
From there, we can explore the shores of Elbe river all the way to St. Pauli Fischmarkt.
We will gather at U-Bahn Lattenkamp June 15, 2022 11:00 CEST a.m.
Please note: Hamburg subway failure: HVV rail replacement service line U1: The section between Ohlsdorf and Lattenkamp will be closed from June 13th.
I will wear a yellow vest…
The tour starts with a ride along the small creek Tarpenbek, leading us to the western end of Hamburg Airport’s runway.
Here we will enter the „city forest“ of Niendorfer Gehege.
The following part of the tour mainly leads us through suburban parts and you can get an idea of relaxed living in famous german „Kleingarten“ culture.
In Altona Volkspark, it gets relatively steep in parts, so we might have to push our bikes.
In Flottbek we enter a row of parks, leading us down to the pier of Teufelsbrück harbour ferries. We can have a picnic there with nice views over the river.
A little Snackbar and a Crépe booth provide food, if needed.
Then we will bike along the shore all the way down to St. Pauli Fischmarkt. It can get a little busy there with pedestrians and at the path along the historic „Captain houses“ in Övelgönne, we will have to push our bikes.
The last part leads through lively districts „St. Pauli“, „Schanze“ and „Eimsbüttel“ back to Eppendorf.
The total mileage of this tour is aproximately 40 km (25 miles)
We can expect the tour from 3 to 4 hours, depending on the group’s demands in terms of intermissions e.g. for taking fotos or enjoying scenic views on the way…
Looking forward to show you around this interesting part of town,
